“It’s kind of wonderful.”

I very much enjoyed my holiday viewing of the Mike Veeck documentary “The Saint of Second Chances”. Veeck, owner of the now-AAA St. Paul Saints baseball club is an inspiring character: all of that downtime entertainment we now see at sporting events between innings, at halftimes, and during period breaks can be traced back to him.

And while the documentary is very much about that, it’s just as much about living life to its fullest.

Mike’s dad Bill, also an inspiring character, former owner of the Chicago White Sox himself, is much the reason for Mike’s chosen path—and I especially enjoyed this quote from him:

This world would be better if more people didn’t take it too seriously. You know it isn’t grim. It’s kind of wonderful.
